Welcome to Mar Thoma Schools

     The ‘Maramon Mar Thoma Schools’ is a Corporate Management run by the Mar Thoma Church, Maramon. Presently there are two schools under this Management. They are, The Mathews Mar Athanasius Higher Secondary School and the Abraham Malpan Memorial Teacher Training Institute and Upper Primary School. The Mathews Mar Athanasius Higher Secondary School (MMA Higher Secondary School) has High School and Higher Secondary Sections having classes 8 to 12 and the Abraham Malpan Memorial Teacher Training Institute and Upper Primary School (AMM TTI& UP School) has TTI, LP and UP Sctions or classes 1 to 7 and two years of TTC.
Management Structure
     The Management is run and administered by the Mar Thoma Church Maramon. By the constitutional provision, The Vicar of the parish from time to time is the Manager of the schools. There is a School Board that is chaired by the Manager. The Assistant Vicars and Trustee of the parish are Ex Officio members of this Board. The Board consists of Representatives of the official Prayer Groups of the parish and the Ex Officio Members. Heads of both the institutions are invitees to the Board. There is a School Board Correspondent who is elected out of the members of the School Board.
Brief History
      The reformations within the Christian Churches at various periods in the History are all closely related to Renaissances in the larger society of the corresponding periods. All the Educational Institutions started by the Missionaries and Churches in India are resultant of the thus interlinked Reformation and Renaissance and the Maramon Mar Thoma Schools are no exception. Even the Malayalam word Pallikkoodam is derived from the word Palli. In 1918 Maramon Mar Thoma Church started the Mathews Mar Athanasius English Middle School in the present campus of MMA Higher Secondary School. Rev.P.M.Mathai alias Palakunnathu Achen or Sanyasi Achen took the initiative of opening the school and the school owes its name to the Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, Mathews Mar Athanasius. Later in 1938 a Basic Training School was founded by the name Abraham Malpan Memorial BTS which was renamed AMM TTI afterwards.
      In 1949, the School was upgraded to a High School by the name MMA High School and the Middle School Section was attached to the AMM TTI. The MMA High School continued to function in the campus near Chettimukku and the AMM TTI& UP School functioned in the campus near the Maramon Mar Thoma Church. The MMA High School is now upgraded as a Higher Secondary School by the name Mathews Mar Athanasius Higher Secondary School, Maramon. The classes of the Higher Secondary section have begun on the 27th of August 2014.
